$125,000 in Grants from COVID-19 Response Fund

SPRINGFIELD – The Community Foundation for the Land of Lincoln and United Way of Central Illinois announced today the fifth round of COVID-19 Response Fund grant recipients. In total, $125,500 was awarded to the following organizations:

  • The Salvation Army Clear Lake Corps and Community Center-$25,000
  • Springfield Branch NAACP- $25,000
  • Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Illinois- $19,000
  • The Outlet- $18,000
  • Pregnancy Care Center of Springfield, Inc.- $10,000
  • YMCA of Springfield- $6,500
  • Panhandle Food Pantry- $6,000
  • Jacksonville Area Community Food Center- $5,000
  • Pure Haven Family Resource Center- $5,000
  • Kemmerer Village- $4,500
  • Capital City Coalition- $1,500

Since launching, $325,000 in grants have been awarded to support frontline nonprofit organizations in Sangamon and surrounding counties.


Grants are administered in partnership with the Pandemic Community Advisory Group. Both the Community Foundation and United Way of Central Illinois are thankful for the members of this advisory group for sharing their expert knowledge and dedicating many hours of volunteer work since launching the fund.

Donors have now contributed and pledged over $530,000 to the COVID-19 Response Fund, including $50,000 in seed funding from the Community Foundation and United Way and $250,000 from the Illinois COVID-19 Response Fund. The Fund cannot provide grants to individuals, however, it does support community-based organizations that have experience providing essential services and support to local residents.

Local nonprofits serving individuals and families affected by the coronavirus outbreak are encouraged to apply for COVID-19 Response Fund grants by completing the online application at www.CFLL.org.


The COVID-19 Response Fund is designed to complement the work of public health officials and expand capacity in Sangamon and surrounding counties by strategically and efficiently addressing impacts from the coronavirus outbreak.
