Illinois Prairie Community Foundation Awards $3,000 for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library

The United Way of Logan County is pleased to announce that a $3,000 grant has been awarded for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library in Logan County from the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation. This money will be used to purchase and send books to local preschoolers throughout the county.

The Illinois Prairie Community Foundation was the first organization to award a grant to help start this program in Logan County and has been a strong supporter since the program's start here in 2020.  Thanks to the support of organizations like this, the library has grown from its start in Hartsburg-Emden with about 15 children registered in 2020 to its current level.  All preschool (age birth up to age 5) children in Logan County are now eligible to enroll and the current enrollment is 733.  Over 9,000 books have been sent out to children's homes to grow their home libraries, encourage reading together in the home and grow their love of learning and reading.

Thank you so much to the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation for this generous grant and for their support of this program throughout the years.  Learn more about the Illinois Prairie Community Foundation at  Illinois Prairie Community Foundation – We are a grant-making public charity dedicated to improving the lives of people in our community.
